I'm near dlvl 20. I can't remember how many characters I lost to this depth by confusion attacks.

A question about Oangband:
I must *identify* an artifact to obtain its resistances?

I'm in dlvl 30, looking for a source of rConfusion. I got some very good artifacts. This character is gaining levels very fast.

I bought the boots of speed in the armoury, selling almost all the artifacts and ego-items that I had. After a few trips to the dungeon, I saw a tome of Life Force Mastery in the BM at the same price, but I had no money to buy it. What an evil game.

AFAIK no, same as in V. You could quaff a !SELF_KNOWLEDGE or *ENLIGHTENMENT*
to check out.

Dark Ball + Telepathy is an awesome combo, and Himring is a superb armor. I agree with many Oangband players that Meditation is very useful.

I had to banish an OoD Krotus with a scroll of *Destruction* in dlvl 55. These scrolls are life savers.

I just cleared a greater vault on dlvl 69. I found Life Force Mastery there. The boots of speed and Himring made the difference. I killed Evil Iggy and Glaurung. I left Lungorthin for later.

Something scary happened before leaving the level. Without noticing it, most of the time I was using the gnomish shovel, without a source of FA. I'm using more severe inscriptions now.

Do you like Soul Siphon? Against bosses i think it is useless..

dlvl 88, special feeling, detected town, a legendary hobbit rogue appears, I hit a trapdoor. *sigh*

About Soul Siphon: the start of the game is easier for me, I don't have to flee as much, but is useless at deeper levels.

You have FA from Cambeleg! You got them much earlier (from your inscription at dlvl 29). Did you not wear them at that time?

I saw the Necronomicon once in a greater vault, but a monster took it and I could not recover it later.

I became bored, so I took a chance with Sauron, hard battle, lots of summoned monsters.

I continued looking for the last book when a trapdoor left me in dlvl 100. The battle with Morgoth was the hardest of the game. I had HP below 100 several times.

to picommander:

At that thime, I was wearing a randart set of cesti (rBlindness, rConfusion, rShards, +3 to Magic Device) and using Sting for FA.

Looks like a *WINNER*, congratulations!

I don't understand why your char is marked as dead on the ladder: there's nothing about death in your last messages... ?-/

Yes, this is a winner post. It seems that the other winner posts had the same problem. Maybe Oangband dumps would have to include the title of the character, like Vanilla.

Yes, that's the problem. I've already mailed Pav (if you want, you can mail him and ask for a manuel winner entry) about it and his answer was something about a workaround with scanning the dump for Grond and the Crown of Morgoth. Unfortunately you didn't pick up either and I don't know whether it's already implemented.
IMO it's an ugly hack and I'll try to ask the maintainers of O to include the tiltle for future versions (I think it really shouldn't be PAV's busyness).
Btw, the dump is a plain ASCII file, you could try to manually edit the
'Titel ***WINNER***' line for now and repost your dump...

Thanks for the tip. Btw, Grond and the Massive Crown are there.
