Using next few comps to play with variant magic systems (feedback requested)

Hi,

Since we're talking about how the magic system in vanilla could work, I thought we might do a few 2-wk competitions with magic systems from other variants.

Ideas:

1) NPP druid
2) poschengband human spelly guy (you get to roll your character, and you can pick from any class in the Magic or Prayer sections)
4) FAangband something?

Other suggestions? I think we can do 3 of these before getting sick of it. After that, I want to do an animeband comp. For real, this time.

I'm probably going to use (2) as the next comp unless I hear something really good in the next 48 hours. (1) was suggested by Nick and could be a follow-up, but his ideas are usually super bad so some of us should probably vet it.

I definitely would second #2 anyday. With this, we get to see different approaches to the PosChengband Magic or Prayer -lore in a competition setting.

Idea (1) is clearly brilliant - use it. For (3), I'd suggest a Necro (probably Longbeard or Dwarf or High Elf) with Angband dungeon.

You could do a PWMAngband comp

Ideas:
- a shapechanger (spells based on monster spells)
- a summoner (pets)
- a necromancer (slaves, special abilities)
- an elementalist (spells can be studied multiple times to increase spell power)

Here's the list of the poscheng classes that can use the standard array of books:

Blood-Mage, Mage, High-Mage, Sorcerer, Priest, Paladin, Rogue, Ranger, Red-Mage, Warrior-Mage, Monk, Force-Trainer (I wouldn't use this one)

And the ones that use special school of books that no one else can use:

Necromancer, Rage-Mage, Bard

Also Chaos-Warrior! I was originally thinking of leaving the hybrids out of this competition, but it might be good to have them given the conversation that has already occurred. I'd probably leave out warrior-mage also, because it's garbage and our time is precious

Nature-Sorcery Ranger might be a reasonable look at an alternative ranger.

Warrior-Mages aren't garbage once you realize they can learn the Rockets spell. debo, you should count them in, if possible.

High mages? Blood mages? Priests? pff

Real mages have 4 lb pre-penalty weight limits, icky wield of anything that's not a wizard staff, and 0.65 life rating modifier
