Comp 166

I'm doing some preliminary research. I managed to get Animeband060a2 to compile, but it was totally busted -- functions calling functions with parameters that don't exist, that kind of thing. Clearly this source bundle never actually compiled into anything. It crashes when you try to rest, though, although everything else seems to work.

If any Windows users want to be helpful:

Can someone download this: http://angband.oook.cz/animeband/Ani...0a2Windows.zip

and let me know if resting when below maxHP causes their game to crash?

I'll give it a shot right now debo.
update: worked fine. Took a hit from a Yakuza in town, went down the stairs and rested safely.

Ok, rad. Thank you! This might be a comp candidate then, although I might try the 0.5x releases instead so that non-windows people can (hopefully) compile things to their platform if they want.

Change of plans -- we're doing Neoband 0.7.1 for this comp instead.

No offense to the maintainer, but it's possible that this variant will be completely broken Thus, I would treat this like a motivation to playtest the game, rather than a perfectly balanced competition candidate.

No offense taken. For the record, I would say the beginning difficulty scale for the new classes, from least to greatest, runs something like

1. Sniper
2. Shieldmaiden
3. Sapper
4. Reaper
5. Pyromancer
6. Avatar
7. Assassin

Of these, Pyromancer plays most like a Vanilla mage, and Avatar most like a Vanilla priest, IMO.

(Note, again: powers are accessed through 'p'. The same spell can be cast with the same vector etc. through 'P', i.e. shift + 'p'.)

Is it intentional that reapers can regain MP by resting? I think they might be fine if they didn't, and if you were forced to kill dudes to regain MP.

Not intentional so much as "didn't think about it." But having them need to kill to regain MP is a great idea and will feature in the next version. Thanks.

D'oh. You just gave Tharem Harth another reason to balance the Reapers.
