OmniBand 1.5 / ZAngbandtk - Similar Classes as...

Yeah I can't do it. I tried going back to V but I'm too hooked on Omnibands ZAngband variant; but I'm at a stalepoint.

I really, really like playing Beastman, Chaos Warrior (YAY lots of mutations) but because of that most other classes/races feel stale and bland. Hit this, hit that, level up.

Are there any other classes people know of that play similarly with short term conflicts, like mutations?

Vampire seems interesting, just for having half the necessary stat resists and Hold Life.

most of the other races though just seem to be minor variations on the human/elf/troll archetypes especially the Half Castes.

Although I could have typed all this and find I'm the only ZAtk'er on the forums Either way many thanks if you have any suggestions or just for reading a semi-vent

You might like Chengband, that's got some interesting classes... Wild Talents, Weaponmasters, etc.

Possessor classes may be what you are looking for: You can inhabit the body of any (?) opponent you encounter and equip it with your items, while gaining its stats, equipment slots etc. ToME 2.3.5 has a possession skill, available for at least two classes (Possessor and Loremaster), and XAngband has a possessor class called "Snatcher".

In Posband and RePosband, you play one of the monsters of Angband, with the possibility to evolve. Both games also feature a possessor class.

Haven't tried any of these myself, though...

Ooh thanks for those suggestions; I'll give XAngband and Posband a go for now.

That does sound like an interesting mechanic.

You are welcome However, Chengband seems to be more popular at the moment.
Come to think of it, there are some more classes in ToME 2 that you might like:
Thaumaturgists: They learn randomly generated attack spells, some of which have drawbacks.
Symbiants: Can use non-moving monsters as equipment, thus gaining their resistances and abillities.
Mimics: Using special cloaks, they assume the shape of various creatures.
Demonologist: A warrior class that uses demonic spells contained in specific blades, shields and helms.
