Do brands stack?
![]() When I inspect a weapon I only see each brand listed like ....100 vs. Trolls, 100 vs. creatures not resistant to acid, 100 vs. creatures not resistant to flame, 70 vs others. And when I strike, the message only reads you burn the creature OR you corrode the creature. It does not say you burn AND corrode the creature I am considering using a ring of slaying (+8,+9) instead of the flame ring because it does not appear to stack with the acid. But If they stack I assume that would be much more damage than the ring of slaying (assuming the creature has no resists). So should I go for several brands (2 or more) or not? Thanks for helping! ![]() |

I'm 99% certain they do not stack.

They do not stack. The game automatically picks the brand that gives you the best multiplier. So for example, if you have a slay evil (x2), acid brand (x3), *slay dragon* (x5) weapon, then the game will use the *slay* against dragons, the acid brand against non-acid-resistant non-dragons, and the evil brand against acid-resistant non-dragon evil monsters. All you gain from having multiple slays is versatility.
EDIT: fixed it a bit. Evil brand is only used when the monster is evil, acid resistant, and not a dragon. Last edited by Derakon; August 4, 2010 at 23:37. |
