The One Ring: Does it Exist?

Have any of you ever found the One Ring fair and square in a game? Or Bladeturner, for that matter?

I've never found either the One Ring or Bladeturner in any game, but I have faith they are out there somewhere.

It may make for fun competition character to start out with the One Ring, since few ever get to see it. Or even go with the full getup of one or more of the Fellowship of the Ring members described in this thread. I know there was a previously a comp submitted by Eddie featuring a hobbit warrior with a perma-cursed Sting that was very popular. It may be a little easy with Frodo's full gear though. Maybe have the comp be: win with as many of the fellowship chars as possible?

Edit: I think this would be best in Un, if it has all the requisite items.

That's a cool idea.

It exists - I've found it a few times. Now, Bladeturner, I've only heard rumors that it exists .

Pete Mack will become famous soon enough
I've never found either one. I've found Feanor twice (including once dropped by Morgoth), and "ordinary" PDSM twice. Bladeturner isn't particularly better than PDSM, but it hardly matters as it's so impossibly rare.

In my very first game of Angband in which I got below dlvl5 (~vanilla, circa 1998). I was playing a half-elf ranger. Why half elf? Because I misread the start screen and thought I was picking Hi Elf (never played an half-elf since then)! Notable findssto finds: Bard, on the floor, next to the stairs (lvl28); and Feanor, on the ground, next to the stairs (lvl 42). At the time I was wearing Dai-i-thallion, and didn't understand the game enough to realize that giving up RNether and RChaos to get +15 speed was a bargain! The effects of speed simply weren't that obvious to a newbie (but glaring holes in the resistance screen were - Nether and Chaos sounded really scary!). So I only put on the famous boots much later. Then found the One ring, in one of those small "plus" vaults on lvl 90. The *ID* description made it look much too scary to use - so I didn't. Its permacursed, and newbie paranoia suggests that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is! I still won the game, and I was left thinking that this was quite easy. I have never seen the One again (apart from in Tome, where finding it is guaranteed, as part of the "story"). It was 8 years before I saw Feanor again! I think the RNG did a great job of getting me hooked! I have seen Bladeturner only once.

Those are some epic finds. I wish I could find like... any of that stuff. ^_^;; The best item I think I've ever found were just Sting, Some +7 BoS, and maybe... Plate Mail of some hero... it's been awhile... anyways... ^_^;;

I've legitmately gotten it before, but I can't seem to find the dump.

A good friend of mine found it at 6300 after beating Morgy, dump here: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=4374

I'll attest to that being a legitimate find .
