Dual wield in [SA]
This has been bothering me for some months but never really bothered much with it, now however is a different story.
The manual says: Dual wield doesn't increase your number of blows. You hit with one weapon until it expends its blows, then continue with your offhand weapon. So in total I assume by proposition one that if I have two blows, then my first weapon will hit, if it misses will then go to my offhand weapon. Assuming the primary weapon hits once, so now I have only one blow left, I assume that it is carried out by the primary weapon. Proposition two states that my attack will continue on with my offhand weapon as well. Contradiction! Wielding two weapons in both hands decreases your weapon skill. In what way? to-hit, to-damage or both? |

Anytime you miss with a primary attack, the second one gets a chance. If you have a different number of blows, say 2 and 4, then you get those last two attacks with just your second weapon.
It just penalizes your to-hit, to bring it more in-line with single wielding, or at least that's what I assume. |

I know of very few dual-wielding chars. I think the skill hit is too much, and there are too many useful shields. I guess it could work well for an OoI swordsman weaponsmith - you could forge items for your off-hand which were better than found shields, and your high skill would make the skill penalty less trouble.
Hmm. Maybe I just found my next challenge char... CC |
