Noob here, two questions...
Hi there,
first thanks for this great game. I really love it. But there are two questions, which google could not answer: 1. I'm trying to play angband on my laptop. I found the roguelike keyset, which works best for me, also on my PC. The problem is, that my laptop got a german keyboard, which is a bit different. Mainly I have to find a way to swap Y and Z. I tried the function for keymaps, but I'm not sure if I used it properly. 2. I got a char which is on level 25 or so. But now my strength got reduced to 7 from 18 or so. How can I get my strength back? ![]() Thanks in advance. Greets. |

you can also restore your strength through these other ways:
1. have your XP drained until you lose a level, then drink a potion of Restore Life Levels (RLL). 2. eat a mushroom of Vigour 3. drink a potion of Strength 4. drink a potion of Brawn 5. drink a potion of Life (unlikely, they are very rare) 6. zap a rod of Restoration (again, unlikely) you have learned an important lesson - rings of STR are vital to new characters; they both increase your damage and carry capacity, but also sustain your STR. If you get severely drained at a higher level, it will take a long time to restore your STR. As this slows you down, lowers your damage, and prevents you from carrying gear, a drained STR can be a death sentence. Stash mushrooms of vigour at home.

What he said. Look for a nice, harmless Forest Wight (or similar.) Let it bash you down a level, then restore life. For STR and CON only, there are also sips of miruvor and *extremely* rare Entish draughts. But mostly: avoid strength draining monsters until you have the sustain. Especially avoid Dreads (and the various greater dreads.)

And lastly later in the game certain character classes have restoration (priests) and revitalize (druids) to restore stats/exp., but you need the proper level and the proper book.
Until then, avoid stuff that's red. It's a key for reduce strength. (or fire) |

If you're new to the game, just play a Half-Troll. Problem solved
