Newbie Needs Help

So, I just downloaded Angband and I am very new to this kind of game. Can someone please tell me how I can go to the next level? And what I should be doing first. ANY tips will be appreciated.

Press > to go down. < go up. Press ? further for help. You might want to read up a little on game play basics. There's probably a wiki somewhere also that you could check out.

You should visit the stores and buy some basic survival things. A coat and some other cheap armor, a scroll of phase door, a potion of cure light wounds or whatever you can get for your first money.

Also, check your (i)nventory and (e)quipment. You can (w)any armor or weapon you buy.

Don't be scared to run away crying for your mother, it keeps you characters alive just that little longer.

The crying for your mother part is optional.

I only cry if there is no one to see me. I might also then use a save back up. Then I feel dirty.
