{tried} Rod and Wand

I am still confused about rods and wands

I tried of them both kinds: once towards a wall and once towards creatures, but they still keep being unidentified - 'zinc wand' and 'Tin Rod', both {tried}.

do they need to be identified with a scroll? Or is the only solution selling them?

Selling them will automatically identify them.

There are wands to destroy traps, you might want to test that. The rod might be a rod of curing, try it while you are blind or such.

These are probably trap disarming/disabling or door destruction so try them against a trap or a door.

Or find a place where you get an angle on trap, door, wall and monster. Though to be sure, it hardly matters if you use up the worthless door destruction. (Wasting teleport other is the only real nono.)

I'm pretty sure curing is now identified on use even if you're healthy. The only ones that are tricky to identify are disarming and door destruction (and digging, but the OP ruled that out).
