slowing monsters with wand
I noticed that slowing down a monster with a wand of slow monster, doesn't work like when you encounter a snake.
It is not difficult to kill a snake as he needs twice your time to move 10 feet. So you can just move back one step, wait for the snake to take a step and then hit him and take another step back, and so on, until he's dead. But monsters even slowed down with a want succeed in hitting you. I presume he is not slowed down to half your pace. Is it possible to know how much the monster has been slowed down? Would be interesting to know, if for instance you are trying to kill a monster in melee with an acid melee attack. |

The slow monster effect takes 2 points of speed off a monster, so in the early game you get 20% speed advantage. Later on, you can pretty much squelch slow monster devices. Use hold monster instead if you want to run away from a fight.

It's not so much about running away, but about being able to fight them in melee as slowing them down, let's me bash them more often than they can bash me.
So, if I use the 'slow monster' wand 5 times, I have double his speed? |

No, it's a one time effect. If you want to debuff a monster further, use stun/confuse, they work well early on.
