(Macintosh 3.0.9b) Where are the .txt files hiding?

Once again annoyed that the Lucerne Hammer is still regarded as a bludgeon (it's actually a kind of polearm), I decided to go into the .txt files to fix the problem (and make Turmil blessed)...Except I can't seem to find them. Where does the mounting put the .txt files? They're certainly not in the Preferences folder, and I know they're someplace on the computer, since help still refers to reading from things like birth.txt...

ETA: Never mind. I found out that the application icon also acts as an editable file package...

ETA: On the other hand, it looks like they're write-protected for some reason...Any way to circumvent that? I'm not interested in the high-score tables...

ETA: The problem went away once I took the files out of the disk image. {rueful chuckle}

To make it clear for other people, the lib/edit directory for MacOS is deep inside the application bundle. So are the help, file, pref, script, and xtra directories.

If you put Angband in the /Applications directory, the lib/edit directory is:

/Applications/Angband.app/Contents/Resources/lib/edit

If you like the Finder, you can ctrl-click the Angband application and select "Show Package Contents". From there browse down through Contents, Resources, and lib.

The save, bone, data, and scores directories are in ~/Library/Preferences/Angband, where "~" is your home directory.
