ToME - Genocide?

Hello, my first post on this forum.

I play *bands for more than a year now and never managed to get past 25 (in fact, once. Killing spree in the orc caves, with some unique orc that killed me on the last level...).

Now I have a question:

Luckily i could buy a fireproof Genocide-Scroll. So, what's Genocide for? I read something about killing all creatures of a race on the level or something. Would it work on quest-monsters (the Spider quest in Lothlorien...)?

Welcome!

I bet Genocide will not trigger quest completion, if it even can be used on a quest level. For the spiders quest, find some means to walk over forest (the reward from that quest is one of those) and make sure you are never seen by the reddish ones. Good luck!

When you read it, you will be asked for a symbol (like o for orcs); it will then remove every monster with that symbol on the level. It costs you a couple of HP per monster removed, you don't get experience for them, and they don't drop anything. I don't know how it affects ToME quest monsters, but it probably wouldn't count toward quest kills.

You may get a better answer from the ToME forums.

Genocide doesn't work on quest levels for the most part, and it doesn't trigger completion on quests where you have to kill the monsters.

Or you can run it with an archer and a lot of (cold) branded ammo. ToME archers with X-Bow specialization are incredibly powerful. It's dangerous as hell, and you have to move carefully. You can even clear the giants/trolls quest with an archer, although it helps if you don't finish the Lothlorien wolves quest, and use it to scum for elf bones.
